EDGE students

Eight students from Memorial and McLain completed the EDGE program, earning an associate degree at the same time as their high school diploma!

EDGE, which stands for Earn a Degree, Graduate Early, operates through a partnership with Tulsa Community College and Tulsa Public Schools. Students begin the program in 9th grade, and they are provided the support they need to succeed as they take college classes for free alongside their high school curriculum.

This marks the the first year Tulsa Public Schools students are graduating from the program since it began four years ago. All students in the first cohort plan to use their associates degree as a launchpad to continue their education at four-year universities with a two-year head start.

The EDGE graduates include:

  • Jaida Marler plans to attend the University of Tulsa.
  • Corina Crowl plans to attend at Oral Roberts University.
  • Cade Gass plans to attend the University of Tulsa.
  • Jorge Ocampo plans to attend Oklahoma State University.
  • David Untila plans to attend Oklahoma State University.
  • Tristan Vasquez may attend a medical college in St. Louis.
  • Kennedy Wright plans to attend Oklahoma State University.
  • Judith Aburto plans to attend Oklahoma State University.
