Math teacher Claire Lewis has been selected as the 2021-2022 McLain High School Teacher of the Year!
One nominator said: "She has coordinated the schedules of over 30 clubs to give students the opportunity to get involved in academic, social, athletic, and service clubs all during the school day. She regularly checks in on novice teachers and offers to help with any questions or issues that may arise. She challenges her students, while still supporting them with new learning. She checks in on students individually to support as they independently work through problems and crafts guiding questions to give additional direction to students that may need more support. Her guidance is always positive and gives students the chance to reflect on what previous knowledge they have and how it can be applied to the problem at hand."
Lewis has worked at McLain for about three years and teaches Algebra II and AP Statistics.
"As a high school teacher, I absolutely love seeing students grow in the classroom and excel outside of the classroom," said Lewis. "My favorite part of my job is forming relationships with students and working with the school community to create a positive and meaningful experience for our Titans.
"Our students are incredible; every day, they work hard to do their best in and out of school and prepare for life after graduation. It is a great honor to work at McLain High School and be a part of Titan Nation."
