Location of Materials

Up to four books may be checked out for one week at a time. If you need extended time, please remember to renew your book.
Graphic novels are located by entrance to the library.
Biographies are located toward the rear of the library.
Audiobooks are located on a bookshelf in middle of the library.
DVDs are available for checkout to students. However, students must have a borrowers agreement on file in the library. See the librarian for the form.
Headphones and computer power adapters are available at the circulation desk. Staples, scissors, paper, etc. are located at the circulation desk. Please see the library staff for assistance.
There are 5 desktop and 27 laptop computers available for use throughout the library.
The "For Dummies" collection is located in the center aisle of the library.
Ipads and power sources are available for use in the library. Please see the librarian for checkout.
For your convenience, a charging station is available to charge any of your electronic devices.

Guidelines for Students

TPS Board of Education Policy does not permit students to download programs, visit chat rooms, or e-mail sites. If something online makes you uncomfortable, tell a staff member.
Please follow the TPS Student Code of Conduct.
Bottled water (without sugar) is allowed in the library.
No food is allowed in the library.
Group study is allowed in the main areas of the library. Please keep noise at an appropriate level.
Chairs must be moved back at the end of the class period.
Computers are to used for classwork only.
Chrome books are available for use in the library only.
The library conference room is available for meetings. Please see the circulation desk staff to schedule this area.

Mission Statements

The Mission of the McLain High School Library Media Center is to teach students how to read, comprehend, and analyze information effectively and to encourage and empower students to be life-long 21st Century learners.

This mission is accomplished by:

Providing a library program that is fully integrated into the school’s curriculum and instructional practices
Delivering a variety of print and non-print materials, computer hardware and software, and other resources which fully support the school’s curriculum
Stimulating interest in reading for academic purposes and for personal enjoyment
Promoting the effective use of information and communications technology
Sharing many library resources to students through this website, which brings digital resources and information to students 24/7 from anywhere
